Important Dates in CMBA


All members should be aware of the dates below. 

September 7th: Diamond League Tryouts

September.8th: U18 Team Registrations Due

September 14th: Her Time to Coach Clinics

September 20th: U18 Fall Season Starts and Referee Training Starts

September 30th All other team registration due

October 4th: U11 and U13 Referee Training Games

October 11th: CMBA Opening Weekend hosted with UofC Dinos (Start of Round 1 seeding games)

Round 1 seeding games consist of 4 weeks of full length games. In this period, the league works closely with each zone to determine where a team would best fit for the second round of games. Movement will be granted during this round with special request from Zone Presidents and a demonstration of multiple losses grater than 20 points without a win OR multiple wins over 20 points without a loss. 

November 2nd: First Re-Seed

November 8th: Start of Second Round games

Round 2 games consist of five games within your division. The goal in this round is to determine if there's a need for further movement before finalizing 6 team divisions in the final re-seed on December.7th. Movement will be granted during this round with special request from Zone Presidents and a demonstration of multiple losses grater than 20 points without a win OR multiple wins over 20 points without a loss. 

November 16th: Diamond League Championship

December 6th: End of Second Round

December 7th: Final Re-Seed (no reseeding between regular season and playoffs)

After this reseed all divisions are locked in and no further movement will occur between divisions. 

January 3rd: U18 Winter Seeding Tournament

January 10th: Start of Final Round games

February 14th: NO GAMES (Family Day weekend)

February 20th/21st: First Playoff Round (Friday and Saturday)

This will consist of opening round playoff games in order to determine the side of the bracket that teams will be on (Championship side or bronze medal side)

February 27th/28th: Final Playoff Round (Friday and Saturday)

This round will consist of final games to determine placing in the pool. Teams can still win bronze even if they lost one game in the first playoff round. Top 3 teams are guaranteed a spot in Alberta Basketball provincials and 4th place teams will be considered by Alberta Basketball on a division-by-division basis. 

March 5th-8th: Alberta Basketball Provincial Tournament in Calgary AND USports Men's Nationals hosted at University of Calgary
