"What is CMBA Basketball?"

The Calgary Minor Basketball Association League is comprised of 10 Zone Member Associations. There are six zones in Calgary, being, Northwest, NCBC Thunder (North Central), EastPro (N.E. & S.E), Calwest (West & S.W.), SoCal (S.W. & S.E.) Bow River (S.E.). There are four outlying Zones, consisting of AMBA (Airdrie Minor), Cochrane Minor, C.L.S. Minor (Chestermere, Langdon, and Strathmore), and OBA (Okotoks Basketball Association). The CMBA fall and winter league is made of 10 CMBA Zone Association Teams. CMBA takes team registrations for fall/winter league from CMBA Zone Associations. 

CMBA spring league is made of CMBA Zone Association Teams and Independent Club Teams. CMBA takes Club Team registrations only for spring league each year. If you are interested in finding a Club, please google “club basketball in Calgary.”

If you are a player, coach, referee, or team volunteer parent, CMBA has a fun, exciting basketball experience waiting just for you!

We have fun and competitive basketball leagues!

CMBA provides fun and competitive leagues for players in the age categories of U11, U13, U15, U18, a fall Diamond Prep League for Senior High School girls.  There are 4,500 players that play CMBA League Basketball annually. 

We have training for coaches and referees!

CMBA provides free coaches leadership and technical basketball training courses for both inexperienced and experienced coaches alike.  CMBA Coaches Clinic registration is at the beginning of August each year on the CMBA website.  To register for your free Coaches Clinic, you need to be coaching in one of the 10 CMBA Zones for the upcoming season.

CMBA provides Referee Training Clinics each fall for new or experienced officials interested in learning how or continuing to professionally develop, to officiate youth basketball games.  CMBA Referee Training Clinics is a great way to learn more about the game, meet new friends, make money, and build leadership and self-confidence skills. CMBA Referee Clinics have a minimal membership and equipment costs to attend and officiate. Registration for training clinics opens on the CMBA website in mid-July each year.  

CMBA teams need parent volunteers!

Parent volunteers help with team management, loading team schedules into software, stat taking, and NEW! to CMBA a Social Media - picture taker liaison.

Game preparations: CMBA needs volunteer scorekeepers each game, one provided from each team. This helps keep player registration costs low and each league game functioning. 

We have player development camps in summer and winter!

CMBA provides basketball skill building, Sizzling Summer Basketball Camps, for players U9 to U15, for one week each summer in July. We also provide a 3-day mini camp in Winter called “Holiday Hoopla” for players ages U9 to U15.
