Hello All CMBA Zones, Teams, Coaches, Officials, and Team Managers, Important tie breaking procedure for teams in Seeding Round / Oregon Draw Tournaments. Also listed below the Overtime tie breaking procedure is….where to find your Oregon Draw, if your team is in an Oregon Draw.
Teams that are in Oregon Draw Tournaments for seeding round games, please note games cannot end in a tie. The tournament schedule needs a winning game outcome to send teams to their next game(s) scheduled in the Tournament Oregon Draw. Please understand that the outcome of an overtime game shows the league that the teams are comparable with a close game score and can be pooled together in future games or divisions of play.
Due the games being 22 minutes and in 30 minute time slots we need a quick and speedy way to determine the winner of the game to ensure the game(s) after keep running in a timely manner and don’t get behind schedule.
Overtime procedure for Seeding Round Oregon Draw Tournaments ONLY to break regulation game ties;
No time will be put on the clock in overtime. The overtime will start with a jump ball at centre court. There are no timeouts in overtime. The first team to either score a basket or be awarded a point (one point) will be determined the winner whichever comes first. Rationale for the first point awarded and not just the first basket made is because the first basket could take for example…10 minutes to be scored which would put the tournament games behind.
Remember there are no foul shots in 22 minute seeding round games.
Thus the one point could be scored by bonus fouls carried over into overtime from a foul called on the floor in overtime
Or
a shooting foul called the shooting team would be awarded one point
Or
A technical foul called in overtime and one point would be awarded to the team not accessed the technical foul.
Additional schedule information on where to find your Oregon Draw as some divisions have Oregon Draws (8 teams) and others don’t due to only 6 or less teams being registered by zones in that seeding division to begin the year.
